Being involved in your care from the earliest fetal movements to the first smiles, I get to know you really well. Our prenatal appointments last for an hour and are personalized for you. We take blood pressure-- and chat about how things are going! This intimacy helps us build the trust that is necessary during the delivery process. During the delivery, I can offer support and guidance more effectively if we communicate well and have an understanding. A relationship based on this mutual understanding helps you relax through the contractions and trust the process. Postpartum, although often overlooked, is another time I can offer help that might not otherwise be there. Home visits, and help with breastfeeding and newborn care help smoothen your transition into motherhood, whether it's the first time or the fifth! Every mother has different needs during her pregnancy, birth, and postpartum; I offer individualized care to address these in a way that is best suited to you. I consider it a true privilege to do this work and am looking forward to seeing many more families blossom and grow! Please contact me with any questions or inquiries. Thank you!
WHY A MIDWIFE?
The Midwives Model of Care is based on the fact that pregnancy and birth are normal life processes.
The Midwives Model of Care includes:
- Monitoring the physical, psychological, and social well-being of the mother throughout the childbearing cycle
- Providing the mother with individualized education, counseling, and prenatal care, continuous hands-on assistance during labor and delivery, and postpartum support
- Minimizing technological interventions
- Identifying and referring women who require obstetrical attention
The application of this woman-centered model of care has been proven to reduce the incidence of birth injury, trauma, and cesarean section.
